Not Just on Sunday

On Monday, September 2nd, a “Save the Date” card popped up in my WhatsApp.  It was from my found brother, Gareth.  After 7 years together, he and his fiancé, Fabi, will be getting married on February 15th next year.  We connected within minutes and video-chatted for an hour about “the Big Day” – at this stage, it’s all rentals, travel arrangements, logistics, but it is still amazing news.

During our conversation, Gareth said “I never expected to get married.  For most of my life it was illegal, impossible…”  Same sex marriage has only been legal in the UK since 2014.  There it was:  the “impossible possibility” from Reverend Sheena’s Sunday reflection, in the excitement of one of my dearest friends.  It was a joyful validation that the world can become more just.
