A Spire on Fire: Cabaret of the Holy Other
Thursday, October 19th, and Friday, 20th
Doors 6:30, Show 7pm
at Knox United Church
506 4th Street SW
A cabaret performance inviting contemporary live arts creators working at the intersection of social justice, contemporary performance, queer creation, feminism, and spirituality to reflect, discuss, create, and perform within the context of the Knox United Church. Facilitated by queer artists, dramaturgs and spiritual leaders, the process will see every space in Knox illuminated with drag, dance, music, poetry, clown and circus arts, comedy, and beyond, envisioning the church as an untapped well for site-specific creation, not in spite of its physical and cultural burdens, but in collaboration with them.
Featured artists include Jessica Barrera-Fox, Christopher Gamble, Mpoe Mogale, Garret Smith, Brook Tate, Jamie Tea (Tognazzini), Oliver Twirl, and Elaine Weryshko. With creation facilitation team support from Miranda Martini, Nicole Mion, and Keith Murray.
ASL interpretation will be present. Accessible building. A conversation in a united church on Treaty 7 land.
